Description: |
A musical weekend in Vienna, focusing on British music, a weekend that culminates in a concert at St Stephen’s Cathedral. Vienna is of course a marvellous and very musical city and St Stephen’s, the huge church in the centre of the main square, has played an important role in musical history for centuries. It is true to say that the church is rather more used to hearing Mozart and Haydn (who both had connections there) than British music, but even more reason for us to do something different. Singers will come from Austria, Germany, France, the U.K., and further afield.
The programme will be:-
Handel - Zadok the Priest
Handel - Hallelujah Chorus
Elgar - Te Deum op34
Ireland - Greater Love Hath No Man
Vaughan Williams - Five Mystical Songs
Vaughan Williams - The Old Hundredth
